Old South Kitchen

The Ask
–      Existing kitchen too small with impeded layout
–      Larger kitchen with improved functionality
–      Brighten this place!

The Solution
The existing space was cramped and non-functional.  We removed the rear wall of the existing building and added approximately twelve feet to the house allotting space for the design team to improve the overall flow.  An elegantly curved, large sized island with fossilized river stone top serves as an excellent area for food preparation or sitting with a coffee and newspaper in the morning.  The view from the kitchen is now expansive with windows located above the countertops as opposed to upper cabinetry.  Thermal solar window films, a green roof, LED lighting and walls insulated using recycled blue jeans all collaborate to make this space comfortable.   Transition from addition to the existing space is made invisible with the help of flush steel beams and great design.
